Review: Kylie Co Hybrid Fitted

Description: The Kylie Co Hybrid Fitted consists of a printed exterior (the one I have is yori), hidden softshell layer and minky fleece interior lining. It comes with a double petal snap-in insert topped with a stay-dry layer of minky fleece and backed with softshell. The snap-in booster that can snap onto the petal insert comes topped with the same fabric as the exterior. In total there are 5 layers each of hemp fleece and cotton fleece in the inserts.  The nappy features a fold down rise which enables you to adjust the fit to your baby and fastens with snaps around the waist. There are three snaps on each wing as well as two crossover snap settings to make the waist smaller for a younger baby. These nappies are available in either a serged/overlocked finish (as pictured here) or turned and top stitched.

First impressions:  I love the look of this nappy - from the striking print to the feel of the thick smooth yori and super soft minky fleece inside. It's clear this WAHM has a great eye for detail - as evidenced by the neat stitching, matching snaps and thread colours and even the matching print booster insert. I love the limited edition ranges the WAHM has for her mini-stockings. [Rating: 5/5]

Ease of use: Simply snap in your inserts and fit the nappy on your baby. The matching print booster means it's easy to match up clean inserts to nappy shell when it comes out of the wash. If you've never used a fold-down rise before, there may be a slight learning curve if you're used to a snap-down rise. When taking the nappy off, simply pop it in your dry bucket. I usually only unsnap inserts when I hang the clean nappy up to dry as it facilitates quicker drying time. The shell dries fairly quickly, but as is typical for natural fibres, the inserts take a bit longer to dry. You can however tumble dry those to speed up the process. [Rating: 4.5/5]

Fit: We get a lovely fit on toddler J. Rise is fully extended and still plenty of room to grow at the waist. The shell has a good amount of stretch to it, which makes it easier to get a precise fit. If you are using the fold-down rise, depending on how far you fold the front down, you may need to fold the inserts shorter. You can also opt to remove the  booster insert on a smaller baby to give a trimmer fit. But as is, the nappy is not super bulky either. It's nice and squishy, like a hybrid should be.  [Rating: 4/5]

Value for money: I feel like these are good value for money, given they are handmade and with quality fabrics and finishings. While the WAHM is one of the newer ones, you are getting a great quality product, on par with more established WAHMs out there. [Rating: 4/5]

Performance: In terms of performance, these work great for us. We use them for daytime, coverless as well as nights with a wool or fleece soaker on top. From absorbency tests I did, the inserts absorb roughly 230ml and combined with the shell full absorbency is roughly 400ml.  This should hold up for light to medium wetters overnight with a cover. [Rating: 4/5]

Overall impression: This is a lovely nappy from one of the newer WAHMs on the block. Well made, quality fabrics and unique prints; the Kylie Co hybrid is a great addition to any stash.

I was not compensated in any way for this review. While I aim to provide detailed, objective reviews of all the diapers that I've used, please bear in mind that this is my opinion and that every mom has her own preferences and every baby is built differently. So what works well for me and J, might not necessarily work well for you and your baby. J was 38 months old and approximately 15.5kg when these photos were taken.
