Review: Sproglets Handmade Baby Products

I'm always on the lookout for natural, cloth friendly and eco-friendly products, which is why I was excited to try the Sproglets range. The range includes bum, nipple & bug balm. Sproglets is proudly South African and handmade by the owner, Stacey.

All of the products are free from parabens, artificial perfumes, colourants and other nasties. They contain essential oils for their their scent and beneficial properties - from anti-fungal, to anti-bacterial, soothing and moisturizing to name just a few. The Sproglet range has not been tested on animals, though if you're avoiding all animal derived products, note that it does contain bees wax.

Sproglets Bum Balm has a lovely fresh, softly sweet smell and a firm consistency. I personally prefer a firmer consistency for bum balms as I find it easier to use just a little bit and not get all messy when it's  warm out. It is also a deterrent for eager toddler hands that want to finger paint with bum balm. :-P I did find that it firms up a bit more when it's colder out (makes sense since the base is coconut oil) which makes it a bit more difficult to dig out on winter mornings. But it softens quick enough if you rub it between your fingers before applying to baby's bum. It works well for us to clear up slight redness and does not irritate my son's skin (though I must add he doesn't have very sensitive skin). And of course it's 100% cloth nappy safe.

Sproglets Nipple Balm has a softer consistency than the bum balm, but is still on the firmer side - think of a stick lip balm. The scent is very neutral with no specific smells standing out. Ideal for the intended use! I haven't needed to use this on my nipples, however it does work brilliantly on dry and cracked wintery lips and cheeks. I found it soothing and moisturizing on my and my kids lips and it's become a staple in our winter skin care routine. I love that the ingredients are all natural especially for something that you will use on your nipples or lips.

Sproglets Bug Balm contain citronella & lemon grass oils which gives it a sharper, very refreshing smell and ward off bugs. We haven't had too much need to use it just yet with winter this side and an absence of bugs, but I'm sure it's going to come in handy come summer time. The consistency is very nice, firm but spreadable and I think this will be great to apply to bites etc after the fact as well due to the antiseptic and soothing ingredients. I'm also kind of tempted to use it as under arm refresher just because it smells so good!

Overall, I love that this range is made with all natural ingredients, I love the consistency, fragrance and how it feels on the skin. I also love the fact that it's budget friendly and the fact that you're supporting local business when buying it.

Sproglets products are available at a select few retailers throughout South Africa; you can find stockist information on their website. Like their Facebook page to be the first to know of new products and competitions.
