As I get closer to 30, I realise more and more that I prefer to do things the wholesome and natural way, whether that be cloth diapering, baby wearing, breastfeeding or going without shampoo. I think I was one of the very few commerce students on campus who walked around barefoot and with beads in my hair. I've since passed the crazy hippie stage, but still hold true to trying to live my life as naturally as possible. Since becoming a parent at the end of 2011 this need has just intensified.
I live on the southern tip of Africa, in the most beautiful country in the world, South Africa.
Why this blog?
Most of the information on parenting is very mainstream - let your child cry it out (CIO), formula feed because it's 'more convenient' and 'easier', only peasants wear their babies, disposable nappies are the way to go. I want to show parents that there is another route, an easier and more gentle route and one that I believe is more beneficial to both parents and baby.
I hope you'll join me as I try to find my way off the beaten track.
